Purple Roses
By: Jade Anne G. Tabaco
I know they don’t exist,
So, it never crossed my mind,
I’d ever add it to my favorites’ list
My heart and soul went to bind.
A bouquet handed—
On my hands it landed
Greening ear to ear,
Sparkling eyes can’t take off its gaze
The bouquet held close to my chest,
Wrinkles form as I gaze in awe.
I take another glance,
These are white roses painted in purple.
My steady smile formed a wrinkle,
Doesn’t matter for my stomach went in circles.
A thought in my mind popped,
“If he wanted to, he would.”
A thing that doesn’t exist
Is not an excuse for a man who loves thee.
Everything he shall seize,
To have my heart flattered as it should be.
Though roses fade and time will pass,
This painted hue will always last.
For in his effort, love persists—
Creating beauty where none exists.
